Position Overview

This role involves applying safe food handling practices along with infection control and sanitation standards to ensure the delivery of high-quality food service to patients, staff, and visitors. Responsibilities include meal assembly, portion control, and food delivery, all while maintaining excellent interpersonal communication.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean and safe work environment adhering to unit safety and infection control protocols.
• Follow safety and sanitation guidelines rigorously.
• Prepare and portion meals for patients and customers according to established guidelines.
• Deliver meal trays to patient rooms or designated areas as needed.
• Comply with all regulatory standards related to food preparation and service.

Qualifications

• Ability to measure liquids accurately, especially for modified or liquid-restricted diets.
• Manual dexterity and coordination to handle trays and dishes efficiently.
• Knowledge of proper handling of cleaning chemicals and solutions.
• Completion of on-the-job training including dishwashing equipment operation and health/sanitation standards.
• Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English to understand menus, recipes, and instructions.
• Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and measurement.
• Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
• Understanding of safe food handling and infection control practices.
• Effective communication with coworkers and supervisors.

Education

High school diploma or GED preferred, or equivalent work experience.

Certification

Food Handler card required within six months of employment.

All new hires must successfully complete a physical exam, drug screening, and background checks prior to starting work.

This position is located in a regional healthcare facility serving the coastal communities of the Pacific Northwest region.
