Job Description

Position Overview:

As a Baker at Essen Bakery, you will be an integral part of our bakery operations, responsible for crafting a variety of baked goods that bring joy to our customers' lives. Your expertise in baking techniques, attention to detail, and high efficiency will contribute to the continued success of our bakery.  We are looking to add a skilled and experienced Baker as we expand to our brand new 2800 sq ft Fishtown location. 

This position includes the early morning bake shifts (start time will be 3:30am, 4am or 5am, depending on day of the week). Candidates with experience in baking prefered, especially those who have worked at high quality establishments and are accustomed to high volume and fast paced environments. 

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and bake a diverse range of baked goods, including breads, pastries, cakes, and cookies, following established recipes and techniques.
• Ensure the quality, taste, and appearance of all baked products meet our high standards.
• Assist in developing and testing new recipes and variations to keep our offerings fresh and exciting.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace, following strict food safety and sanitation guidelines.
• Monitor inventory levels of baking ingredients and supplies, and communicate with the management team for timely replenishment.
• Collaborate with other team members to ensure smooth bakery operations, from preparation to baking to packaging.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Baker/Pastry Cook in a bakery, pastry shop, restaurant or similar setting.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a team.
• Strong understanding of baking techniques, ingredient functions, and recipe scaling in the preparation of yeasted breads and pastries, as well as chemically leavened cakes and cookies.
• Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends and holidays (except Christmas and Thanksgiving)
