Position Overview The Care Promoter 1 is an unlicensed medical professional cross-trained to perform routine administrative and clinical tasks to keep the medical centers running smoothly. Duties vary depending on the setting, size, location, and type. Alongside administrative responsibilities, Care Promoters perform clinical duties under direct physician supervision, in accordance with state medical practice acts. They are key members of a Physician-led Care Team dedicated to providing excellent primary care for a specific patient population. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Measure and record patient vital signs, document patient interviews and medical histories. Communicate patient needs to the PCP, Clinician, Specialist, and other clinical staff. Prepare patients for examinations, perform routine screening tests, assist physicians during exams, and explain procedures and instructions. Observe patients and report any changes in their condition to relevant medical staff. Perform non-critical medical procedures, collect lab specimens, and conduct basic waived lab tests. Prepare and administer medications, change dressings, apply bandages, remove sutures, and perform first aid procedures under physician supervision. Maintain supplies and equipment, sterilize instruments, adhere to OSHA safety standards, and ensure accurate documentation. Manage patient phone messages, relay information, and support prescription calls with physician approval, using appropriate medical terminology. Provide health coaching to support healthy lifestyle choices, with follow-up via weekly calls. Perform additional duties as assigned by management. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Compassionate interpersonal and customer service skills. Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with a healthcare team. Problem-solving mindset focused on patient and team goals. Knowledge of medical terminology, products, policies, and procedures. Proficiency in basic phone and computer operations, including Microsoft Office Suite. Attention to detail and ability to maintain organized systems for patient flow. Calmness in stressful situations. Willingness to travel up to 10% regionally as needed. Fluency in spoken and written English. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE CRITERIA: High school diploma or equivalent required. Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program or comparable healthcare training required. At least 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant or similar role, or clinical rotation training. Experience with geriatric patients is a plus. EMR system experience preferred.
