Job Summary:
The Masonry Estimator is responsible for accurately forecasting the cost, materials, and labor required for masonry construction projects. This role involves reviewing architectural drawings, specifications, and other documents to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for bidding purposes or to support project planning and execution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review construction drawings, specifications, and related documents to determine scope of work.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for masonry, waterproofing, plaster and EIFS.
- Quantify material and labor requirements using takeoff software
- Solicit and evaluate bids from subcontractors and material suppliers.
- Collaborate with project managers, to ensure accurate and complete estimates.
- Develop project budgets and assist in scheduling as needed.
- Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits to assess project conditions.
- Track and update historical cost data for future estimates.
- Identify potential risks and value engineering opportunities.
- Ensure estimates comply with company and industry standards.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as an estimator in masonry or related construction trades.
- Strong knowledge of masonry materials, methods, and construction techniques.
- Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff) and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Degree or certification in construction management, engineering, or related field preferred (but not always required).
