Our client in Rice, MN is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Cost Accountant to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for analyzing and verifying financial data, maintaining production models, and supporting decision-making processes through strategic financial insights.

Job Type: Temp to Hire (Full-Time: 8 AM - 5 PM, Monday - Friday)

Description:
Our client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Cost Accountant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for analyzing and verifying complex financial information, creating and maintaining production models, and recommending effective process improvements. This role involves working closely with both internal employees at all levels and external contacts such as vendors and customers.

The Cost Accountant will assist in financial reporting, reconcile general ledger accounts, and support month-end close activities. This position requires a strategic mindset to provide leadership and direction, ensuring accounting policies and reporting deadlines are met while maintaining a sound internal control environment.

Major Responsibilities:

• Maintain existing production models and assess new tracking mechanisms for decision-making support.
• Perform Price Volume Mix (PVM) analysis.
• Audit price and cost inputs within the ERP system.
• Conduct complex accounting reconciliations and balance sheet trend analysis.
• Cross-train to perform critical accounting functions, including Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
• Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) key controls.
• Provide strategic recommendations for process improvements and resource optimization.
• Lead the team effectively through organizational changes.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a related field (preferred).
• Strong experience with ERP systems and cost accounting principles.
• Knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance and internal control standards.
• Proficiency in financial reconciliations, analysis, and reporting.
• Excellent leadership and problem-solving skills.
