Job Description

Are you a technical leader ready to drive the engineering strategy for large-scale, solar and storage projects? A leading global renewable energy firm is seeking a Director of Solar Engineering to oversee system design, performance modeling, and technical due diligence for utility-scale solar projects.

🔹 The Role

As the Director of Solar Engineering, you’ll lead a high-performing team, ensuring seamless integration of technical solutions from development through construction. You'll collaborate cross-functionally to optimize project designs, improve efficiencies, and drive innovation in solar technology.

🔹 Key Responsibilities

  • Direct and manage solar engineering, system modeling, and CAD design efforts.
  • Oversee technical evaluations for new solar opportunities.
  • Provide expert guidance on interconnection, design, and performance optimization.
  • Develop technical specifications for major equipment (inverters, modules, trackers).
  • Lead interdisciplinary design reviews and due diligence processes.
  • Support contract negotiations and assist in commissioning/testing activities.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance project performance.
  • Mentor and develop engineering talent, ensuring best practices across teams.

🔹 About You

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Engineering (Electrical, Civil, Mechanical, or similar).
  • 10+ years of experience in solar or renewable energy engineering.
  • Proven leadership experience in a technical or managerial capacity.
  • Strong expertise in solar power plant design, PVSyst, AutoCAD, and system modeling .
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with evolving project demands.
