Summary: The Education Programs Volunteer at the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science (Frost Science) will work alongside the Education team to assist staff with the execution of our education programs, from camps to floor demonstrations. The Programmatic Volunteer must 16 years or older and be able to commit to the volunteer program for at least 6 months, donating a minimum of 8 hours a month.
Rate: Unpaid (community service hours provided)
Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare materials and prototypes for experiments and activities.
* Assist museum educators and instructors with classroom duties and tasks.
* Supports delivery and implementation of youth programs such as camps, classes and workshops.
* Effectively works with museum staff, and other volunteers to deliver programs to a diverse audience during special events or other specialized program needs.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities:
* Volunteers are public service ambassadors for Frost Science, as such they are expected to be friendly, courteous and represent the museum in a positive, professional, and supportive manner at all times.
* Interest in science and Frost Sciences mission.
* Strong oral communication skills.
* Reliable and punctual, with good attendance.
* Positive attitude, strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
* Experience working with children, youth and/or families.
* Must be 16 years or older.
* Must wear a Frost Science uniform T-shirt for the duration their shift.
Schedule Requirements:
* Must be able to commit to the volunteer program for 6 months.
* Must be able to donate a minimum of 8 hours a month.
Clearance Requirements:
* Level 2 background clearance as defined by the Florida Statutes/Law.
* Drug screening as part of the Drug Free Workplace Program.
