Electrical Estimator – Job Description

The Estimator will lead and manage all phases of assigned estimate, from RFQs to bid submission, while collaborating closely with vendors, internal and external project managers, and other team members.

This is a full-time, in-office position in Helena, MT.

Key Responsibilities

• Estimate commercial, residential, and industrial electrical projects (both new construction and renovations).
• Review and analyze bid documents including blueprints, specifications, and related materials to fully understand scope of work.
• Accurately quantify bid documents using Bluebeam.
• Research and compile costs for materials, labor, equipment, and travel.
• Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate quotes from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing.
• Assess risk levels and potential challenges associated with projects.
• Prepare and submit detailed quotations and cost breakdowns.
• Monitor project costs throughout all phases to ensure alignment with original estimates.
• Support project managers in cost control, change order management, and other financial aspects.
• Maintain and track estimation statistics.
• Work with accounting and CFO to manage project finances from start to finish.
• Submit, track, and document RFIs as needed.
• Draft and review proposal and scope letters in collaboration with the internal team.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
• Ability to travel (preferred) to job-sites to assess sites for pre-bid walk-through or other needs.

Required Skills

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• High level of organization and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage time effectively, multitask, and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Knowledge of the electrical industry, including parts, job planning, and interpreting specifications.
• (Preferred) Experience with Accubid Anywhere Estimating Software.
• Active driver’s license.

Education & Experience

• Journeyman Electrician or equivalent field experience (preferred).
• Degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 4 years electrical industry experience (preferred).
• Minimum 1 year estimating experience (preferred).

• Job Type: Full-time
• Pay: $30.00 – $40.00 per hour (depending on experience)
• Expected Hours: Minimum 40 hours per week
• Schedule: Monday to Friday (semi-flexible)
