The Region Assistant - Brokerage position strives to secure suitable carrier solutions for transportation opportunities within specified domestic regions of the U.S. Reporting directly to the Brokerage - Region Leader, working with the Regional Team structure is of supreme importance to ensure ODW Logistics serves both its customers and carriers needs at high levels.
Financial Roles - Responsible for maximizing short-term and long-term profitability by covering freight at optimal profit levels
- Measured on loads covered, loads given back, and percentage of loads covered within goal rate
- Must get approval from Regional Leader on regional loads with rates paid that result in loss or pay amounts outside of goal rate range
- Communicate with Regional Leader if certain loads or lanes fall below acceptable margin levels
- Must get approval on and all com-checks and have only authorized LTS personnel create and distribute the com-check
Strategic Roles - Assist in spot carrier onboarding duties as delegated by the regional leader
- Responsible for the loads that were assigned to you by the regional leader
- Measured on performance of carriers booked (on-time p/u, on-time delivery)
- Be proactive in covering freight days in advance when possible
- Communicate with Region Lead and Brokerage Manager as needed to drive customer satisfaction
- Assist in efforts related to carrier recruitment - when a dispatcher will give you info, take it, record it, give it to the region leader.Find out everything you can, we will get it in a database and use it in the future
- Build relationships with carriers - the carrier is your customer
- Become an expert in your region.Know who call, when to call, and the best way to motivate your carrier to work for you
- Be tactical in your approach to covering freight.Do not just cover one load at a time, find out what else is on the board that you could leverage to same carriers or similar lanes
- Communicate with other regional assistants to learn about market trends and pricing
- Assist is covering loads in other regions as time allows
Skills and Competencies - Driven, enthusiastic and highly motivated
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to prioritize, multi-task and manage time effectively
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server, Terminal Services and Virtual/Thin client architecture.
- Must be willing to learn new skills and technology
- Must be able to work unsupervised
- Must have good interpersonal skills for dealing with internal customers

Education and Experience - High School Degree or similar Degree level required
- Bachelor or Associate Degree preferred
- Less than 1 year Supply Chain Industry Experience
Physical Demands - While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, sit, walk, use hands and fingers to handle or feel as well as reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets.
Travel - Position is primarily at the Hamilton, OH office location. If business demands any travel, Management will review with the employee in advance.
