The International Relations Specialist will recommend policies and procedures regarding specific program activities and collaborate with other NRC offices and U.S. Government agencies to enhance international nuclear safety and security consistent with the NRC's mission and U.S. national security and foreign policy objectives. Duties include but not limited to:Coordinates activities related to nuclear safety and security cooperation and capacity building. Serves as the point of contact between other NRC offices, other Executive Branch agencies, foreign regulatory bodies and nuclear entities, and multilateral organizations in planning and implementing international nuclear safety and security cooperation and assistance activities. Participates in interagency and international discussions of nuclear safety and security issues and maintains an awareness of foreign nuclear programs.Collaborates with other NRC offices and U.S. Government agencies to plan and implement international nuclear safety and security cooperative and assistance programs. Liaison and evaluation activities are conducted with a goal of optimizing the impact on NRC resources. Uses general knowledge and familiarity of nuclear safety, security, nonproliferation and regulatory issues in internal meetings, interagency working groups, and interactions with foreign regulatory bodies.Arranges technical discussions and facility tours for foreign regulatory and nuclear officials with NRC senior and technical staff to facilitate the exchange of technical nuclear safety and security information.Prepares meeting minutes and cooperative actions plans. Participates in the development of meeting agendas by interfacing with both U.S. and foreign participants.
