Position Summary
The Japanese–English Bilingual Interpreter will provide bilingual translation support (both verbal and written) for the Plant Manager and for visitors and business travels, in addition to various administrative duties. Q&B Foods, inc. is opening a new state of the art plant in Clarksville, TN, which is where this position is located.
Core Functions and Duties
Understands the company philosophy of the Kewpie Group and Q and puts it into practice.
Provide simultaneous, consecutive interpretation from Japanese to English and English to Japanese for the Plant Manager and visiting Japanese staff during routine and visitor meetings.
Interpret conversations, meetings, emails, and documents in both English and Japanese.
Ensure communications throughout the section; also, to external sections (Ex: Manufacturing, R&D, etc.)
Provide correct, clear, and concise written interpretation of any documents in Microsoft, inclusive of e-mail communications.
Maintain confidentiality of proprietary documents and sensitive conversations.
Coordinate with Accounting Team on invoices – Perform three-way match on invoices (PO to Actual Receipt, to invoices).
Notifies Accounting Team of major discrepancies, over-shipments, or substitutions.
Provides administrative and clerical support to the department.
Adhere to all safety protocols while in the manufacturing/ production plant.
Perform all duties in conformance to appropriate HR, Safety, and Security standards.
All other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications and Competencies
1. Fluency in Business – Level English and Japanese.
2. Ability to remain discrete with confidential and sensitive information.
3. 3+ years’ experience as a simultaneous interpreter.
4. Ability to understand, follow and implement posted work rules and company procedures.
5. Ability to concentrate, stay detached from the conversation and always remain neutral and objective while providing consecutive-simultaneous interpretation.
6. Strong understanding of cultural norms & customs of the U.S. and Japan.
7. Team player. Ability to interact well with coworkers.
8. Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook).
9. Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
10. Dependability and Flexibility.
