Job Description
JOB PURPOSE The Junior Cloud Operations Engineer is a junior level position responsible for assisting in the configuration, maintenance and monitoring of all Lucernex product environments to ensure the security, availability in support of Lucernex Service Level Agreements (SLAs). This includes, but is not limited to all outsourced cloud environments as well as all internal networks and equipment.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS - Assists with management of a cloud based enterprise software solution hosted by third parties and running on both Linux and Microsoft platforms.
- Continuously works to maintain and/or improve the security of Lucernex environments and customer data.
- Employs innovative thought and automation to improve workflow, efficiency, productivity and technology deployment.
- Monitors all production environments as a part of a 24x7x365 rotation to ensure availability and performance meets our SLAs.
- Assists in responding to monitoring alerts as received.
- Maintains regular communications with Support Team and customers as needed.
- Assists with the creatation and maintainance documentation of the environment.
- Improves the speed and efficiency service delivery to ensure we can meet our growth objectives.
- Maintains current knowledge of Lucernex SSAE16, ISO and other audited controls.
- Maintains compliance with our SSAE16, ISO and other audited controls.
- Ability to take a project or task from inception to completion, with limited supervision.
- Acts as back-up to Cloud Operations Engineers as necessary.
- Stays familiar with relevant current and future technologies and trends.
- Attends all company and/or departmental meetings.
- Performs other job related duties as assigned.
Skills & Requirements REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES Education/ Required: Bachelor's Degree in network engineering or similar area of study
Preferred Education/Certifications: Master's Degree in network engineering or similar area of study, independent certifications such as Network+, Cloud+ or vendor certifications such as RHCE or AWS Certified SysOps Administrator.
Experience
Required: - 2-3 years managing a network for a SaaS or Cloud software provider
- 2-3 years' experience managing J2EE / Linux environments
Preferred Experience: - 1-2 years building and managing networks for a SaaS or Cloud software provider
Special
Knowledge/
Skills Required: - Experience with and a general understanding of LINUX and Windows platforms.
- A solid understanding of networking and common network protocols.
- Experience with and a general understanding of SaaS/Cloud environments
Preferred Special Knowledge/Skills: - Experience with major cloud IaaS services and providers.
- Experience with scripting or major configuration management platforms.
