This position is a temporary leave replacement. August 21, 2024- February 1, 2025 with a possible extension to June 27, 2025. The right candidate could be considered for a position for the following school year.

A successful candidate for this position will embody confidence, exercise good judgement and must be able to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with various constituencies, including students, senior staff, co-workers, and teachers.

Position Summary-Elementary School

OWNCS 3 Elementary School, located in Corona, Queens opened its doors in 2022 . For 2024-2025 OWN 3 will have a K-3 program and will add subsequent grade levels each year. OWN 3 is seeking dynamic, talented teachers to provide exemplary instructional practices, work hard to meet the high-accountability demands and close achievement gaps. Our ideal candidate will bring a passion for the mission of OWNCS, an understanding and respect for the culture of all residents, and a desire for working in a school setting that fosters a love for children.

OWNCS3 Elementary School is an International Baccalaureate Organization candidate school and once fully approved to offer the Primary Years Program (PYP). OWN 3provides students with a first-class learning experience that maximizes their intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development, including the development of their ability to apply their intellect to solving problems and contribute to their communities as enlightened and responsible citizens.

Primary Tasks

1. Share commitment to the success of the mission, vision, goals, and objectives of OWN Charter Schools.
2. Support and fully participate in a school culture that focuses on student and adult learning.
3. Set high expectations and standards for the achievement of students and own personal performance.
4. Offer content and instruction that ensures student achievement of school’s academic standards.
5. Support the school’s philosophy that values continuous learning for adults tied to student learning and other school goals.
6. Use multiple sources of data collection to analyze barriers to student achievement and to access, identify and apply to instructional improvement.
7. Provide opportunities for the community to be involved in student and school success.

Required Education and Skills

• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in education or related discipline from US accredited university or college.
• Required - NYS Teacher’s Certification
• Knowledge of NY State Learning Standards
• Must have appropriate credentials as designated by New York State Education Department and in accordance with definitions and requirements to be designated a highly qualified and certified teacher as defined by NCLB.
• Must be authorized to work at OWN Charter Schools through appropriate NYSED fingerprint clearance.
• Must demonstrate competency in all areas of content responsibility and be computer literate.
  • Must be able to:
    • Communicate through superior written and oral communications skills.
    • Exhibit a high caliber of expertise in subject matter.
    • Work on multiple projects and respond to requests and deadlines in an accurate, timely manner.
    • Make sound decisions within the parameters of authority.
    • Be courteous, professional and tactful at all times.

• Maintain a positive working relationship with faculty, staff, board members, parents, students, authorizer and community.

Salary
Range $64,789 -$130,628 depending on certification, degree level, and years of experience
