Job Title: Maintenance Electrician
Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Electrician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the installation and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment, ensuring compliance with local and national codes. This role requires a proactive individual with the ability to manage various tasks and work environments efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Install and maintain new or modified electrical installations consistent with local and national codes.
• Plan electrical installations to minimize material waste and ensure future maintenance access, avoiding hazardous and unreliable wiring.
• Interpret and follow diagrams, blueprints, and specifications.
• Apply journeyman-level electrical skills to the installation and repair of electrical systems, including diagnosing repair needs for air-conditioning and refrigeration equipment.
• Perform tasks and comply with work schedules, attendance, or duty requirements as per City or Department Rules.
• Complete related work as assigned or specified in project drawings or customer specifications.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the Electrical Shop and main facility.
• Travel to job sites as needed.
• Ensure all work sites are clean and orderly.
• Demonstrate safe work habits and proper care of equipment and tools.
• Complete all required paperwork.
• Work from various types of ladders, including step ladders and extension ladders of all sizes.
• Adhere to all safe work procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook, Haz-Com Policy, Lockout/Tag out Policy, and Confined Space policy.
• Attend educational and training classes when required.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in electrical installations and maintenance.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics.
• Journeyman Card certification.
• Experience with bending conduit and working with 480V systems.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Good working knowledge of tasks required for all phases of electrical work per the latest edition of the American Electricians’ Handbook, Local, and National Electrical Codes.

Work Environment

The role operates within Acoustical Sheetmetal Incorporated, providing environmental and sound attenuating packaging for on-site power generation. The work environment ranges from basic factory-like settings to extreme, sound-attenuated, heavy-duty industrial units. The position offers flexible shift options, including a 1st shift from 8 am to 4:30 pm and a 2nd shift from 5 pm to 3:30 am, with additional hours as needed.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $40.00/hr.
