About the role:

This candidate will have a demonstrated subject matter expertise in event security operations, with a clear understanding of risk management principles. The Manager will be responsible for security and safety operations at Gartner events, ensuring that Gartner's associates, attendees, and vendors are adequately protected from all hazards. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to work with little or no supervision, be exceedingly well organized, flexible, should enjoy the challenges of working on a fast-paced and agile entrepreneurial team, and must demonstrate a high level of professionalism and discretion. He/she must also demonstrate a commitment to enabling Gartner's business through risk management practice and possess a no-limits, customer-centric mindset.

Reporting Relationship : This candidate will report to Gartner's Director, Global Event Security

What you will do:
  • Assess, identify, and implement appropriate security and safety standards, guidelines, plans, and measures for Gartner events based on type, location, and risk profile
  • Partner with Gartner Conferences and events teams to determine and implement appropriate security measures
  • Manage event security vendor(s) ensuring that security planning and on-site security is executed to Gartner standards
  • Manage relationships with venue security & safety teams, venue management, and local law enforcement in Gartner event locations
  • Ensure that Gartner events, venues, and vendor services meet all legal requirements for security and health & safety
  • Manage event security vendors to ensure optimal performance and excellent customer service
  • Implement event security crisis management plans and processes.
  • Respond to emergencies as they arise, ensuring proper communication is sent out to those involved and/or affected, while maintaining proper client/security relationships through the contact and support.
  • Execute against executive and VIP security standards and measures.
  • Partner with GSS partners to ensure that event-specific intelligence gathering and notification processes are in place.
  • Liaise with external industry resources (e.g. law enforcement, government, emergency responders, industry peers & associations, etc.) on event security best practices.
  • Support other executive protection, regional, and site-specific security incidents and issues as necessary.

What you will need:
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of event security operations experience desired, preferably with private sector organizations for events up to 10,000 people
  • Operational experience managing security vendors, guard services, and hotel/venue security teams
  • Expertise in threat management, threat assessment, protective intelligence and personal protective processes
  • Industry certifications are preferred, but not required
  • Strong understanding of industry specific legislations and compliance requirements
  • Ability to articulate how they will apply skills learned in previous roles to complex client issues in the commercial security sector
  • Exercises sound operational judgment, as well as flexibility to shifting priorities and challenges
  • Collaborative, team player who has a proven ability to identify and define objectives while managing resources within a budget plan
  • Highly effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated presentation and communications skills and ability to speak to senior audiences with subject matter mastery
  • Proficient with all basic Microsoft computer software programs and communications techniques

Additional Requirements:
  • should have the ability to travel globally up to 35% and have a current passport;
  • may be required to work evening or weekend hours in support of event and to support response to security incidents; and
  • must be able to conduct routine security functions including walking, climbing stairs, and standing at stationary posts.

Gartner believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is 84,000 USD - 115,920 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based, uncapped sales incentive plan.
