Job Description
Description We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Financial Screener to join our team in Long Beach, California. This Contract-to-permanent role is integral to helping patients access healthcare services by assisting them with financial options and verifying their eligibility for Medi-Cal and other programs. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical billing, insurance verification, and financial counseling.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct financial screenings to determine patient eligibility for Medi-Cal and other healthcare programs.
- Guide patients through the application process for Medi-Cal, ensuring accuracy and timely submission of required documents.
- Explain available coverage options and assist patients in understanding their financial responsibilities.
- Verify insurance eligibility, financial status, and documentation to ensure services are appropriately covered.
- Collaborate with billing teams and other departments to ensure compliance with Medi-Cal regulations and accurate claims processing.
- Maintain comprehensive records of patient interactions and screenings in alignment with organizational standards.
- Stay informed about updates to Medi-Cal policies, eligibility criteria, and healthcare regulations.
- Support the organization's operations by ensuring seamless patient access to financial assistance programs.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems to document and track patient information effectively. Requirements - Minimum of 3 years of experience in financial counseling, medical billing, or insurance verification.
- Proficiency in working with Medi-Cal, Medicaid eligibility, and insurance authorization processes.
- Strong knowledge of medical insurance billing and patient eligibility procedures.
- Experience using electronic health record (EHR) systems for documentation and record-keeping.
- Familiarity with Medi-Cal policies and healthcare regulations.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively assist and support patients.
- Attention to detail and organizational skills to manage accurate documentation and compliance.
