Job Description
The Nurse Specialist in Infectious Disease is responsible for prioritizing and managing their time and resources according to the needs of outpatient and inpatient settings. They coordinate communication among physicians, medical staff, other departments, patients, and families. They gather clinical information, test results, discharge plans, and patient condition updates to facilitate effective communication and care.

Qualifications
ADN, IL-RN
BLS and ACLS certification within 90 days of hire
Compensation
Starting at $33.73/hour, based on experience, with an estimated range up to $52.28/hour.
Responsibilities
Assist in outpatient clinics by rooming patients, covering the Nurse Desktop, and performing assigned duties.
Support physicians during inpatient rounds with exams, treatments, and procedures as needed.
Coordinate communication with physicians, specialists, patients, families, and hospital departments to ensure timely and thorough information sharing.
Document responses to patient history and screening questions for use during assessments and examinations.
Monitor patients with chronic conditions, providing education and coordinating next steps to support health maintenance and reduce readmissions.
Prioritize workload related to inpatients, observation patients, and emergency department presentations.
Relay information between providers and clients, including communications with external parties, and document accurately.
Respond to emergencies in the Heart Center and Cath Lab, performing ACLS treatments as needed.
Review patient records for completeness and compliance with quality metrics and regulations.
Round on inpatients to assess treatment response, address concerns, and prepare for discharge, documenting all relevant information.
Support program marketing efforts with internal and external stakeholders.
Additional Requirements
RN license issued by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation
ACLS and BLS certifications within 90 days of hire
