Joseph Gallo Farms is looking for a Part-Time or Temporary Consultant to assist in a few high-level tax related projects. We anticipate the project related work to take approximately 2-4 months to complete depending on time commitment and availability and there would be opportunity for on-going monthly tasks if interested. Ideal candidates would spend a few days onsite throughout the work week to get up to speed on the projects, objectives, and information then could transition to a remote or hybrid schedule if desired.

Overview (Mostly on-site): The Tax Project Manager will participate in a forensic study to correctly (re)classify prior year partner tax, cash and loan payouts with a secondary goal of minimizing partner tax liabilities while ensuring compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulations. This role involves close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to optimize tax positions, manage tax risks, and to complete the work in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities:

• Participate in an extensive forensic tax project of correctly (re)classifying prior year actual partner tax.
• Conduct in-depth tax research and work with outside CPA firm to stay abreast of changes in tax legislation that impact the partnership activities; provide actionable insights and recommendations to senior management.
• Identify and mitigate potential tax risks.
• Collaborate with the finance team and outside tax consultants to ensure accurate and timely reporting on and completion of the project.
• Provide training and guidance to internal teams on tax-related matters to enhance overall tax awareness and compliance.
• Monthly meetings to review and recalculate upcoming tax liabilities.
• Work with CPA firm and Account staff to review the tax model and tax deferment strategies and work to implement them.
• Review our accounting statements as it related to taxes and review documents provided by CPAs or State as it relates to taxes.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or other relevant tax qualification is a plus.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in partnership tax activities, preferably within a family-owned business or in industries such as manufacturing, real estate, or agriculture.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in Excel and NAV is a plus; strong understanding of federal and state partnership tax regulations.
• Analytical Skills: Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail.
• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to convey complex tax concepts to non-specialists.
• Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Integrity: High level of integrity and ethical standards in managing sensitive financial information.
