Description JOB SUMMARY:
Under direction from the Facilities Maintenance Manager, is responsible for scheduling and supervising the work of the Plumbing Department. To lead and positively coach individuals within the department. Displays a high knowledge base of the various tasks in the field of Plumbing products and work practices.
UNIQUE JOB REQUIREMENTS:
The Supervisor, supervises a small work group and performs the most technically complex and difficult work. In consultation with the Facilities Maintenance Manager writes yearly evaluations of subordinates and provides written disciplinary actions when required. Wears company issued uniform. Works inside and outside in varying weather conditions and works around dust and fumes. May be required to wear hardhats, gloves, boots, belts, dust masks, goggles, and ear plugs as work conditions require. May work in small confined area at times. Required to work a varied schedule including days, nights, weekends and holidays and to be on call. Willingness to conform to company grooming standards.
JOB TASKS:
•Schedule, assign, train and evaluate the work of staff.
•Assist the Facilities Manager in determining work methods, standards, estimating and budgeting.
•Assure that equipment related to plumbing is repaired and maintained.
•Install new and maintain existing air, gas, water, and sewer systems according to CA Plumbing codes and company
requirements.
•Work with a variety of material and piping such as PVC, ABS copper, galvanized steel and PP-R.
•Identify causes of malfunctions to equipment or systems and facilities repairs.
•Respond to kitchen equipment failure and determine whether repairs are within the departments ability.
•Make suggestions to improve systems.
•Develop plans for modifying systems to accommodate new construction or additions to existing systems.
•Read and interprets blue prints, schematic diagrams and sketches to perform installation, maintenance and/or repairs.
•Maintain records of work performed and prepares reports.
•Perform other work as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
5 years + of journey level experience installing, repairing and maintaining commercial or industrial plumbing. Ability to complete the most technical and difficult plumbing tasks. Minimum of 2 years of experience as a supervisor or lead.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
•Working knowledge of plumbing and electrical power and hand tools.
*Working knowledge of computer systems and various programs (Word, Excel, Apple software).
•Knowledge of plumbing systems and piping.
*Knowledge of pumps and various lift stations.
•Knowledge of uniform plumbing code.
•Ability to schedule, train, assign and evaluate staff.
•Ability to work as a part of a team and to champion teamwork.
•Ability to track and identify causes of system problems or malfunctions and make repairs or direct others to make repairs.
•Ability to install, repair and maintain a variety of plumbing and piping systems and equipment.
•Ability to troubleshoot and repair refrigeration and commercial kitchen equipment.
•Ability to read, interpret and work from blueprints, schematic diagrams, plans and specifications.
•Ability to estimate materials and cost of plumbing.
•Ability to follow safety practices and proper lifting techniques.
•Ability to document work.
•Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
•Ability to troubleshoot and perform preventative maintenance to HVAC systems.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
•Must be able to lift and move up to 70 pounds from floor to waist.
•Able to stand and walk for 7 and one half hours.
•Bi-manual dexterity.
•Able to climb a 20 foot extension ladder.
•Able to read instruction manuals.
•Able to safely perform heavy fatiguing work: crawling, climbing, pushing, pulling, stooping and lifting.
•Able to work in confined spaces.
•Able to work at heights up to 60' in a man lift basket or on rides with a catwalk.
LICENSES/INSURANCE:
Valid U.S. driver's license at time of hire.
