Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

Guardian Angels Central Catholic (GACC) seeks an instructional leader who will support our 7-12th grade community in living our mission, “To prepare all students to reach their fullest potential by learning and leading through Christ .” We are a Christian educational community fostering the spiritual and academic growth of our students, preparing them to live a moral, faith-filled life based on Catholic values.”

The ideal candidate will be an active, practicing Roman Catholic in good standing who will e mbody the school’s Catholic mission, fostering a strong school-parish partnership and modeling Catholic teachings in all aspects of leadership. This role requires a commitment to excellence in both educational and spiritual guidance, supporting staff, students, and families, while maintaining a welcoming and inclusive environment.

The principal will work closely with the President to advance the vision and policies of the school and parish, ensuring alignment with Archdiocesan standards and promoting a strong Catholic identity.  

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Catholic Identity & Mission Leadership

  • Model a joyful, faith-filled life as a practicing Catholic and serve as a witness to Gospel values.
  • Promote the mission, vision, and values of Catholic education in all aspects of school life.
  • Foster a respectful, faith-centered culture that supports spiritual growth and shared responsibility.
  • Collaborate regularly with the pastor/president to integrate school ministry with parish life.
  • Serve as a visible presence at school and extracurricular activities to support students and families.

Instructional Leadership & Academic Excellence

  • Lead the coordination, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum and instructional programs.
  • Support teachers in selecting effective instructional strategies and appropriate methodologies.
  • Guide the use of student assessments and data to inform instruction and address individual needs.
  • Design and support professional development aligned with the School Improvement Plan.
  • Conduct regular classroom observations and provide meaningful feedback to support instructional growth.

Student-Centered Leadership & Well-Being

  • Build caring, respectful relationships with all students.
  • Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of every student.
  • Understand and respond to students’ diverse backgrounds, abilities, and learning needs.
  • Support student recruitment, enrollment, discipline, and engagement in school activities.
  • Oversee student programs, field trips, service projects, and parent-teacher conferences.

Organizational & Operational Leadership

  • Ensure compliance with all State of Nebraska and Archdiocese of Omaha requirements for approval and accreditation.
  • Interpret and communicate school policies and educational goals to all stakeholders.
  • Assist in budget development and maintain required financial records.
  • Manage time effectively and demonstrate follow-through on commitments.
  • Attend and actively participate in required school, parish, and diocesan meetings.

Human Resources & Staff Development

  • Recruit, interview, hire, and recommend qualified teachers and staff.
  • Supervise, mentor, and formally evaluate faculty and staff annually.
  • Provide a student-centered orientation for new teachers and staff.
  • Support a collaborative professional culture through meetings, in-services, and ongoing communication.
  • Hire and supervise substitute teachers as needed.

Community & Collaborative Leadership

  • Maintain effective communication with teachers, staff, students, parents, parish leadership, boards, and diocesan offices.
  • Serve as liaison with the West Point Beemer Public School system and other community partners.
  • Support the work of the School Board, Home and School Association, and booster organizations.
  • Promote the school’s mission and accomplishments to the greater community.

Continuous Improvement & Strategic Stewardship

  • Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of the School Improvement Plan.
  • Collaborate with the School Board and Strategic Planning Committee on long-term initiatives.
  • Monitor progress toward strategic goals and accreditation requirements.
  • Promote a culture of reflection, accountability, and growth in all areas of school life.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Possess and able to consistently demonstrate the following personal and professional qualifications:

  • Demonstrated record of developing a sound philosophy of Catholic School education and administration.
  • Demonstrated record of developing processes, implementing, and evaluating an effective school improvement plan.
  • Strong working knowledge of the spiritual and academic educational documents used in the Archdiocese.
  • Strong working knowledge and/or skills in administration, management, curriculum, instruction, public relations, communications, development, budget, and finance.
  • Demonstrated record of setting high expectations for students, staff and self, assessing progress and growth on an ongoing basis.
  • Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor of Science in Education (required)
  • Masters Degree in Education Administration or actively working on this degree (required)
  • Possesses a valid Nebraska Administration Certificate (required)
  • Five or more years of experience as a classroom teacher (preferred)
  • Minimum of three years as a school administrator (preferred)
