The location of this role is the Hermosa Project site near Patagonia, Arizona

The Role

The Senior Mining Engineer will report to the Superintendent Ming Planning and will manage a team of mining engineers. Key responsibilities include the design and schedule for multiple ore bodies as well as internal and external communication and coordination with stakeholders including other South32 teams, consultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies.

• Creation and distribution of mine plans including design and schedule.
• Communication with relevant stakeholders for input into the mine plan.

• Management of consultant scopes of work
• Monthly production reporting
• Employee bonus calculations
• Reconciliation
• Plan risk mitigation
• Trade Off Studies

Qualifications, Skills, and Experiences

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering
• Five plus years relevant post education experience in engineering with an emphasis on underground mine planning, design, and scheduling.
• Demonstrated collaboration in project execution and mine development
• Operational experience preferred
• Experience managing professionals
• Experience presenting to large groups as well as groups of managers and executives
• Longhole Open Stope and paste planning preferred
• Proficient in Deswik CAD, Sched, IS
• Deswik SO and SOT preferred
• Proficient in Microsoft Office
• Power Query, Power Pivot, and Power BI preferred
• Strong organizational skills
• Excellent communication skills across a wide range of stakeholders
• Driven and self-motivated
• Due Diligence and double-checking work
• Continuous Improvement mindset
