Job Summary:

The Senior Test Engineer is responsible for leading the electronics and software design of test systems primarily used in the manufacturing environment. Projects are customer-facing, and span a wide range of industries including consumer electronics, medical device, and Ag tech.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Owns test systems, such as those for FCT/PCBA and End of Line, throughout all phases of the development process, from requirements definition to mass production and sustaining.
  • Leads customer interactions in a professional manner; Offers guidance with recommended test systems and specifications based on best practices, quality targets, manufacturing volume, and product designs.
  • Performs engineering analysis including FMEAs as related to test systems.
  • Develops and executes validation tests for test systems.
  • Interfaces frequently with manufacturing teams at global factory sites to understand the constraints and environment under which test systems will be deployed.
  • Continuously assesses and improves manufacturing test processes to increase efficiency, reduce cycle time, and enhance product quality.
  • Partners with factories to review yield data and ensure test systems are calibrated and maintained to prevent down-time of manufacturing lines.
  • Mentors junior engineers and delegates tasks.
  • Works closely with cross-functional engineering counterparts to solve system level engineering challenges.
  • Works with sales, project management, and engineering leadership to develop proposals and achieve project goals.
  • Updates and maintains relevant engineering documentation.
  • Leads and standardizes test system best practices, yet remains innovative, in order to deliver high-quality systems with maximum efficiency.
  • Actively participates in regular project status meetings with relevant external and internal stakeholders.
  • Takes ownership and accountability of test engineering tasks.
  • Travels to suppliers and production factories in service of project objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering or similar.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of hands-on test engineering design experience for high-volume manufacturing.
  • Strong proficiency in Visual Studio/WinForms/C# for test software and SQL database for test data management.
  • Strong proficiency in hardware design for test systems including hardware selection and integration (power suppliers, DAQs, actuators, sensors, and peripherals).
  • Ability to create clear system level diagrams/documents, bills of materials, schematics, and wiring diagrams based on best practices.
  • Proficient in hands-on assembly, soldering, cable fabrication, and use of lab equipment.
  • Altium knowledge is a plus but not required.
  • Experience mentoring junior engineering team members.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to speak Spanish and/or Mandarin are a plus but not required.
