This role is best suited for a mid to senior-level network professional with expertise in deploying, configuring, and maintaining enterprise networking systems and devices — particularly Extreme Networks and Fortinet firewalls. The successful candidate will play a key role in device analysis, configuration, vendor management, and project-based deployments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain network topology and configurations within a secure, government-regulated environment
  • Interface with U.S. Coast Guard networks and adhere to all applicable compliance and security protocols
  • Collaborate with vendors for equipment procurement, support escalations, and deployment planning
  • Execute infrastructure projects including device rollouts, upgrades, and configuration standardization
  • Support day-to-day network operations, monitor performance, and ensure availability of critical systems
  • Document changes, configurations, and deployments in accordance with government and departmental standards

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in network administration
  • Strong understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking, VLANs, and routing
  • Proven experience with Extreme Networks hardware and Fortinet security appliances
  • Ability to independently troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve complex network issues
  • Experience managing network deployments and rollouts in an enterprise or government setting
  • Familiarity with vendor coordination and project management within IT infrastructure domains
  • Ability to follow change management and documentation procedures in a secure environment
  • Must be eligible to work with government networks; active security clearance strongly preferred

Preferred Experience:

  • Previous work within federal or defense agencies (Coast Guard, DoD, DHS, etc.)
  • Knowledge of pitlink systems is a bonus but not required
  • Comfortable working in high-compliance, mission-critical settings
