Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Senior Patent Attorney for our client in Reston, VA. In this role, you will utilize your expertise in patent law to manage and oversee the process of patent prosecution and filings for both domestic and foreign patents. This position offers an opportunity to work within the dynamic field of wireless communications while ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities:
• Handle all aspects of patent prosecution, including drafting, filing, and managing applications with the USPTO.
• Provide strategic guidance on intellectual property matters related to wireless communications.
• Conduct thorough research to ensure patents meet legal requirements and protect company innovations.
• Manage foreign patent filings and coordinate with international counsel as needed.
• Review and analyze patent portfolios to identify opportunities for strengthening intellectual property protections.
• Collaborate with engineering and development teams to translate technical concepts into patentable material.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. and international patent laws and regulations.
• Represent the organization in legal proceedings related to intellectual property.
• Stay updated on changes in patent law and provide recommendations to adapt strategies accordingly.
• Must be a licensed attorney with active membership in a state bar.
• Must have an active registration as a patent attorney/agent with the USPTO.
• Must have previous experience drafting patents related to 5G/6G technologies
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in patent prosecution and intellectual property law.
• Proven expertise in filing and managing patents with the USPTO.
• Strong understanding of U.S. and foreign patent laws.
• Demonstrated ability to work with technical teams to develop patentable concepts.
• Excellent research and analytical skills to assess patent portfolios.
• Effective communication skills to present legal strategies and findings.
• Prior experience in wireless communications is a must
