Special Needs Bus Aide | Be a Champion for Students

Storer Transportation is seeking dedicated Bus Aides to join our team in Hayward. In this role, you are our Champion of Safety on the bus. You're more than a monitor; you are a positive role model, a skilled assistant, and a vital partner to our drivers. You ensure every student feels safe, supported, and respected. • Crisis Prevention (CPI): Learn certified verbal and physical intervention techniques to de-escalate challenging situations.
• First Aid/CPR/AED: Become fully certified to handle medical emergencies.
• Student Support: Receive specialized training in Disability Awareness, Cultural Competency, and LGBTQ+ Inclusivity to create a supportive environment for all students.
• Emergency Response: Learn to take charge, from mastering bus mechanics to executing emergency evacuations if needed.

Your Role as a Champion of Safety

• Build a positive rapport with students, becoming a trusted and friendly face on their daily route.
• Assist the driver in ensuring the safe loading and unloading of all students.
• Proactively manage student behavior using positive, de-escalation techniques.
• Operate special equipment, including wheelchair lifts and securement systems.
• Be the calm and confident leader students can rely on in any situation.

Who We're Looking For

• A calm, patient, and compassionate individual with a passion for helping children.
• An excellent communicator who can work cooperatively with drivers, parents, and school staff.
• Someone with the physical ability to assist students with mobility challenges as needed.
• Must be able to pass a background check, physical, and drug screen.
• Experience with individuals with special needs is desirable but not required.
