Technical/Functional Skills :
Technical Writer for Manufacturing Work Instructions is responsible for creating, updating, and maintaining clear, concise, and accurate work instructions and documentation used in the manufacturing process. This role plays a key part in ensuring that production teams have access to detailed, user-friendly instructions to perform their tasks in compliance with company standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices. The Technical Writer will collaborate with engineering, quality, and manufacturing teams to develop and improve instructional content.

Roles & Responsibilities
1. Creation of Manufacturing Work Instructions:
- Develop clear, detailed, and easy-to-follow work instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for manufacturing processes, equipment use, and assembly tasks.
- Ensure that all work instructions are written to reflect the most current manufacturing practices and process improvements.
- Use diagrams, photographs, and other visual aids to enhance clarity and usability of work instructions.
2. Documentation Management:
- Review and edit existing work instructions to ensure they are up to date with any process, equipment, or safety changes.
- Maintain a comprehensive and organized library of technical documents, ensuring version control and proper documentation tracking.
- Ensure documentation adheres to quality and compliance standards, including ISO, FDA, and other relevant regulatory bodies.
3. Collaboration with Cross-functional Teams:
- Work closely with manufacturing, engineering, and quality teams to gather information about processes, tools, and techniques used on the production floor.
- Conduct interviews with subject matter experts (SMEs) to understand complex manufacturing processes and translate them into simple, accurate instructions.
- Participate in meetings and production trials to gather feedback and improve documentation.
4. Compliance and Quality Assurance:
- Ensure that work instructions comply with all applicable regulations, safety standards, and quality management systems (QMS).
- Regularly audit and update documents in response to changes in manufacturing processes, new equipment, or regulatory requirements.
5. Training Support:
- Support the training department by providing instructional documentation to be used in employee training programs.
- Assist in the development of training materials such as guides, manuals, and presentations, ensuring consistency between training and work instructions.
6. Continuous Improvement:
- Proactively seek out feedback from production teams to identify gaps or areas of improvement in existing work instructions.
- Lead efforts to streamline, simplify, and improve theeffectiveness of documentation to enhance overall manufacturing efficiency.
7. Technical Illustration:
- Create or work with designers to develop technical illustrations, diagrams, and visual representations that improve the usability of written work instructions.
- Ensure that visual aids are accurate and effectively support the written content.
