Role Overview As a Tile Setter/Installer , you will handle detailed installations in kitchens, bathrooms, basements, and other interior remodels. You will prepare surfaces, set layouts, install materials, and finish with grout and sealant for a seamless, high‑end result. You will work both independently and with our team of carpenters and finishers to deliver beautiful, lasting craftsmanship. Responsibilities Install tile on floors, walls, backsplashes, and shower enclosures per design specs and layout plans. Prepare surfaces by cleaning, leveling, and waterproofing prior to installation. Cut tiles using manual and power tools to fit around fixtures, corners, and edges. Mix and apply adhesives, thinset, grout, and caulk with precision and consistency. Perform repairs and replacements on damaged or existing tile work. Read and interpret blueprints and schematics to plan materials and layout. Collaborate with carpenters, painters, and other trades to stay on schedule. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe worksite throughout the project. Conduct waterproofing and restoration work as needed, following manufacturer standards (e.g., Schluter systems). Qualifications Minimum 1 year of experience in tile setting or related field (required). Mastery of tile tools and equipment (cutters, trowels, grinders, levels, etc.). Strong eye for detail and aesthetic alignment. Ability to interpret blueprints and project specs accurately. Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand, kneel, or bend for extended periods (reasonable accommodations available). Reliable transportation to job sites within ~40 minutes of Frankfort, IL. Completion of Schluter training or a similar waterproofing certification is a plus. Knowledge of basic carpentry or cabinet installation preferred. Willingness to submit to a background check and drug test after offer, consistent with Illinois law. Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. at the time of hire.
