Description of Internship and Responsibilities

As a Finance Intern, you will support the Finance Department in numerous tasks and projects. This position will give you a chance to gain accounting experience in a wide-breadth of financial reporting. Responsibilities in this role will include daily general accounting functions, preparation of month end financial reports and accounts payable support. This internship will also entail a larger project that will span the course of the internship and will be based on the Foundation’s needs and candidate’s interests.

Rotational assignments could be in any of the following business areas:

  • Finance Shared Services
  • Foundation Reporting
  • Grant Accounting
  • Subsidiary Accounting
  • FP&A
  • Investments

Duration: Based on candidate’s availability and school schedule

Location: Omaha, NE

Position Qualifications

  • Actively pursing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a business-related field with special consideration for Accounting, Finance, or Economic degrees
  • Ability to self-motivate in a fast-paced environment, ability to deal with ambiguity, change and a dynamic business environment.
  • Basic understanding of financial systems and general accounting concepts.
  • Ability to interact effectively with and develop strong relationships and partnerships with employees at all levels and in different functions.
  • Reliable, organized and possess excellent analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to effectively work across multiple departments and business units to complete a project or resolve an organizational challenge.
  • Experience in thinking critically and solving problems, including leveraging analytics, benchmarking, and insights to generate meaningful strategies and solutions
  • Have a willingness to grow, research, and be a lifelong learner
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The work environment is an office setting with varying degrees of temperature and noise levels.
